It’s officially December, which means that it’s officially Nutcracker Season, at least according to NYC-ARTS: The Complete Guide. The guide to all things art in NYC highlights not one, not two, but fourteen productions of the iconic holiday ballet happening across the city. NYC-ARTS says, “The Sugar Plum Fairy, dancing rodents led by a mouse soldier, the young heroine Clara and Tchaikovsky’s score have become a holiday favorite in New York, drawing hundreds of thousands of people to the ballet.”

From traditional adaptations to more contemporary takes on the show, NYC has no shortage of performances of The Nutcracker. Here are the various renditions of the iconic holiday ballet, happening in New York this month:

  1. New York City Ballet: George Balanchine’s “The Nutcracker.” David H. Koch Theater, Manhattan (November 29th-January 4th).
